An offer letter, a rental agreement, a vendor form - most PDFs that need a signature do not need a printer. Open the PDF here, draw or type your signature, drop it where it belongs and download the signed copy. The whole job happens inside your browser, so the document is never uploaded anywhere.
This adds a visible electronic signature, an image of your signature on the page, which many agreements, forms and letters accept. In the EU, eIDAS (Regulation 910/2014, Article 25(1)) says an electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect just because it is electronic, and in the US the ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. 7001(a)) says the same. Those rules only stop a signature being refused for being electronic; a recipient or a specific law can still require a stronger form. This is not a certificate-based digital signature (such as an Aadhaar eSign or a DSC), which some government filings and contracts require, and in India the IT Act, 2000 does not apply to wills or trusts at all (First Schedule). Check what the recipient asks for before you send it.
Most online PDF signers send your file to their servers. Contracts and ID forms are exactly the documents that should not travel. Here the PDF is opened, displayed and rewritten by code running in your own browser, and the signed copy is saved straight to your device.
Each signature, date or text you place is drawn onto the page as an image, so a typed date is not searchable or selectable text. The pages, their text and any form fields are otherwise left as they were. The file is saved as a whole new copy, so if the PDF already carries a certificate-based digital signature, a PDF reader will report that the document was changed after that signature was applied. Sign such a file with a certificate-based tool instead.
With "Remove the paper background" on, brightness alone decides what stays: pixels brighter than 200 on a 0-255 scale become transparent, pixels darker than about 84 become solid ink in the colour you picked, and the band in between fades. So sign with a dark pen on plain white paper, photograph it in even light without the shadow of your hand or phone, and let the signature fill the frame: a grey shadow, a ruled line or a fold darker than the threshold stays as a faint mark. The photo is scaled to at most 1600 px on its longest side and cropped close to the strokes. Untick the option to keep a coloured company stamp or seal exactly as photographed; it is then placed with its white background.
A typed signature in the Script style uses the first handwriting font your device has (Segoe Script, Brush Script MT, Lucida Handwriting or Apple Chancery, otherwise its default cursive font), so it can look different on another computer. It is saved into the PDF as a picture, so the recipient sees exactly what you placed. Today's date is filled in as dd/mm/yyyy from your device's clock; edit the text before placing it if the recipient expects another format, such as 11/02/2026 in the US. Date and text start at about 11 pt and can be resized like a signature. To initial every page, place the same signature on each one: the image is stored in the file once, however many pages carry it, so a 40-page agreement barely grows. On pages that are rotated or cropped, each stamp still lands exactly where you dropped it.
No. The PDF is opened and signed inside your browser and the signed copy is saved to your device. The usage record holds only counts (pages, signatures placed, pages signed) and whether the signature was drawn, typed or uploaded, never the file or anything in it.
Not yet. Remove the password in the app that created the file, then open it here.
Up to 50 MB and 300 pages. An uploaded signature image can be PNG, JPEG or WebP, under 5 MB.
No. The signature you draw, type or upload exists only in this browser tab and is gone when you close or reload the page, so nobody who uses the device after you can reuse it. Create it again next time. The signed copy downloads as a new file named after the original with -signed added (contract.pdf becomes contract-signed.pdf), and the original file is left untouched.
Yes. The signature pad and the signatures you place respond to touch, so you can draw with a finger or a stylus, drag a signature into position and resize it from its corner. The PDF is still opened and signed on the phone itself, not uploaded, so a long file may take longer to open than on a computer.
Yes, one after the other. The first person places their signature and clicks Download signed PDF, then sends that file to the next signer, who opens it here and adds theirs. By then the earlier signatures are part of the page, so the next signer sees them but cannot move or remove them. Until you download, any signature you placed can still be dragged, resized or taken off with the small x on its corner. Each round adds -signed to the file name again (contract-signed-signed.pdf), so rename the final copy if you prefer.
In Acrobat Reader, open the PDF, choose Fill & Sign (the Sign icon in the toolbar, or Tools > Fill & Sign), then Sign yourself > Add signature, and type, draw or upload your signature before clicking where it goes. If you are signed in and leave Save signature ticked, Adobe keeps it in Document Cloud for next time. In Preview on a Mac, click Show Markup Toolbar, then the Sign button, and create a signature with the trackpad, the Mac's camera or an iPhone or iPad. Use this page when neither app is to hand, such as on a shared office computer, a Windows PC without Acrobat or a phone, or when you do not want the signature kept after you close the tab.
This page does not fill interactive form fields; it places a signature, a date or a short text on the page. If the form has fillable boxes, type into them first in Acrobat Reader, Preview on a Mac or your browser's built-in PDF viewer, save the file, then open the saved copy here and add your signature. The fields are left as they were, so they stay fillable after signing. On a scanned or flat form with no fillable boxes, use the text box here for each blank, such as your name or a reference number: each entry is placed as a picture, about 11 pt high, that you drag onto the line.
It is placed as a PNG picture, starting about 150 pt wide (5.3 cm, just over 2 inches), so its sharpness depends on how many pixels it has. A drawn signature is captured at the pad's on-screen size times your screen's pixel density, so a phone or a high-resolution laptop screen gives a sharper result than an older monitor. A typed signature is drawn from 120 px text, and an uploaded photo keeps up to 1600 px on its longest side. If it looks soft after you enlarge it, draw it larger so it fills the pad, or upload a clear photo, rather than stretching a small one.
